City of West Peoria, IL Sterling Avenue Roadway Improvements
Phase I/II Design & Phase III Construction Services
Project Scope:
Sterling Avenue is a 4-lane urban arterial that extends north from IL Route 8 (Farmington Road) in West Peoria to U.S. Route 150 (War Memorial Drive) in Peoria. The project limits extended from Farmington Road to the intersection with Nebraska Avenue. The project was a complete reconstruction with all-new PCC pavement, curb & gutter, sidewalks, driveways, storm sewer, and pipe underdrains.
The project was selected by the Peoria & Pekin Urbanized Area Transportation Study (PPUATS) to receive $3.1 Million of Surface Transportation Urban Funds.
The City of West Peoria retained Hermann & Associates to complete the Phase I project development report and the Phase II construction plans. As part of the study, Hermann & Associates coordinated with IDOT on the geometrics of the intersection of Sterling Avenue and Farmington Road to improve safety and reduce the potential for crashes. Hermann & Associates also provided Phase III construction services for this project. The project was processed through the IDOT District 4 Bureau of Local Roads and was bid on a state letting.
