Project Scope:
Hermann & Associates was a subconsultant to Ciorba Group, Inc. on this IDOT District 4 project. Since its completion in 1993, the structure seen significant increases in pedestrian and bicycle volumes. A major goal of the project was to improve pedestrian/bicycle access and safety to connect the cities of Peoria and East Peoria. Hermann & Associates performed alignment studies for eight unique alternatives. The preferred alignment consisted of 4 travel lanes and a barrier separated 14’ wide multi-use path on the bridge's east side. Hermann & Associates also prepared (2) Intersection Design Studies at the intersections of IL Route 40 & River Road in East Peoria and IL Route 40 & Adams Street in Peoria.
